The members of the Diplomatic Council are invited to join the 51st session of the Commission on Population and Development which will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from April 9 – 13, 2018.

The priority theme for the 2018 policy cycle is


Sustainable cities, human mobility and international migration.

The Population Commission advises ECOSOC on Population issues and trends; Integrating population and development strategies; Population and related development policies and programmes; Provision of population assistance, upon request, to developing countries and, on a temporary basis, to countries with economies in transition; and Any other population and development questions on which either the principal or the subsidiary organs of the United Nations or the specialized agencies may seek advice.



Your registration for this UN conference is an application to attend and pending approval. The automatic email confirmation provided to you immediately after this registration only means we have received your application. The Diplomatic Council and the United Nations will review each registration and decide about approvals taking into consideration room capacities. After review of all registrations, we will send a final confirmation whether you are approved or not. Once you have received our approval for participation, we expect you to attend the conference.

Participation at this conference is only open to Diplomatic Council members and it is free of charge. The costs of travel, visas, accommodation, daily subsistence and other arrangements, are of the sole responsibility of the participants.

Diplomatic Council members attending this conference are not entitled to speak or distribute written materials on behalf of the Diplomatic Council
